  • Ranald Macdonald

  • Director of Boisdale Entertainment

Considered to be one of London’s leading restaurateurs, Ranald Macdonald has created a Scottish dining and live jazz empire in London. The first restaurant Boisdale of Belgravia opened in 1988 with the expansion of the business in 2002 with the launch of Boisdale of Bishopsgate. Ranald saw space in the City for a restaurant that reflected the eclectic atmosphere of Boisdale of Belgravia. The Lamb at Hindon, nestled in a quiet Wiltshire village, followed shortly after offering all the charms expected of Boisdale, as well as a number of individually decorated bedrooms. Boisdale of Canary Wharf, the largest restaurant in the group, opened in May 2011. The flagship restaurant is not only the latest and greatest venue for life jazz, blues and soul in London, but also boasts a 400-cover restaurant where guests can enjoy music every evening. Following the successful launch, Ranald was nominated for Tatler Magazine’s Restaurateur of the Year award. Ranald is a keen mushroom forager and former butterfly and moth collector. He is an accomplished guitar player and songwriter, as well as an avid Elvis Presley fan, so much so that he recently traced Elvis’s roots to find that the singer’s grandmother was a member of the Macdonald clan.
